Pool Landscaping Idea

Introduction
Safety, privacy, convenience and beauty are some of the considerations to keep in mind when landscaping around swimming pools.

Depending on your lifestyle the pool can be more than a place to “just swim”, it can also be a place to relax, socialize, and exercise. The important thing is to decide what you want from your pool area before you start landscaping.

You’ll need a large deck area with plenty of comfortable furniture and good lighting if you’re planning on throwing regular pool parties. Attractive privacy fence and well landscaped patio can be formed if you want to create a quite, secluded spot to get away from it all.

Plants
Plants provide privacy and beauty around a swimming pool. They soften the harsh lines of swimming poolst and help to blend them more naturally with the surrounding environment. Don't include trees that are too large or messy, as this will make pool maintenance difficult. Make sure that grass clippings and water run-off do not make their way into the swimming pool. It is incredibly important to remember to take time and consideration to choose your swimming pool landscaping plants wisely; for instance, you will certainly not want large deciduous trees put around your swimming pool, as you will end up with leaves in the water. If you do want larger trees however, you can choose something such as a holly, which is an excellent alternative to the deciduous trees.

Privacy Fencing
The last thing you want is the public or neighbors overlooking the pool and disturbing your privacy. Closed board fencing or fencing with vines can provide protection. The placing of the fencing is all important, fencing too close to the pool will restrict access around the pool and fences too far away will not provide sufficient privacy.

Security Fencing
When small children are present fencing around swimming pools is a must, for the purpose of safety. Temporary fencing come in many lengths and heights, these fences can be easily removed when the pool is in use.

Patios
Patios or pool decks provide not only beauty, but safety for swimming pool areas. Climbing out of the swimming pool, you can be assured of a slip-resistant surface to land on with a scarred concrete patio.

Rocks
Rocks strategically placed rocks are a great backyard pool landscaping idea, particularly if you've "gone natural" with the look of your pool and incorporated natural rock or stone into the trim.
